starting fresh

to renew- to give fresh life and strength to.

Every morning when you wake up, you are essentially a different person.
The experiences of yesterday have settled in your brain through sleep and dreams and now you are wiser than you were yesterday. Your cells are mostly replaced, your body's energy has been replenished and your mind is prepped and primed for a new hassle.
Knowing this, it should be easy to tackle every day.
But, every morning I wake up and I just feel pressure of the day, even before it started. I give it meaning before getting any information about the day. I feel tired and I haven't even started.
I couldn't deal with it anymore. I turned towards someone who is essentially an older version of myself- my mom. She told me this- you wake up and you are what you make yourself to be.
Literally, nothing is stopping you from changing your hair color that day or deciding to be a completely different person with different interests, habits and routines.
Is it really that easy to just start new every morning? Change yourself each day with every inhale?

MIND
I do extensive research about feeling better. I don't know if that's just an anxiety thing or just a me thing, but I seriously love reading about mental self-development and habits and routines and all of those fun things.
When researching about this topic, the first thing that pops up that is mind related is MEDITATION. And that is what I decided to insert in my morning routine. Meditation is a great way to set the tone for the day, to listen to your body and mind and to act upon your own needs. If you wake up and feel icky (for lack of a better word) and decide to ignore it in the morning, and you start grinding hard right from the start, the ickiness will only grow and by the end of the day you are guaranteed to have a fight with someone. Or a mental break down. Maybe both. (this is totally personal experience)
But if you take a few moments to actually listen to yourself, you will avoid this and also you will avoid a burn-out.

BODY
I have a confession to make... A little over a year ago, I was a heavy smoker and drinker, who never went to the gym, ate the first thing that came under my hand, didn't drink my H2O, and honestly I couldn't have cared less about my physical well-being. Skin care and other types of self care in general were a mysterious thing for me that I thought only really cool YouTuber girls do. But, at one point I decided to change and it led to amazing results.
I am completely proud to say that I am now a person who wakes up early and eats breakfast, who goes to the gym 4 times a week, who is trying ridiculously hard to quit smoking and who cannot remember the last time I got drunk. I eat mostly plant based diet, with full plans for going vegetarian (maybe even vegan in the future) and all of that contributes to me feeling my best. What I essentially did is I rebooted my body. Now, I am young, I am 22 so I have that opportunity to fix my physical mistakes with very little consequences in the future. But at any point, every morning that you wake up, you have a choice. Use that choice, that chance, to reset your body and do what feels good for you.

SOUL AND SPIRIT
What makes your soul happy? I am talking something different from mind, because you know planners make my mind very very happy but that doesn't necessarily make my soul dance. What makes my soul dance is music and art. I love playing my guitar and I love doodling in my notebooks. Writing in my journal basically resets my soul, playing with my furry babies ( oh yeah, I have two adorable cats!) sparks a light in me, talking late in the night with my boyfriend about aliens turns my wheels and basically by doing what I love I get to harvest good vibes and feed them to my soul. Even this blog is feeding me good vibes, because I fine-tuned it to my own aesthetical needs and wishes and writing this all up is something that just makes me feel good.
So that's the soul part, but what is the spirit part and how the fuck do you renew your spirit? Well I firmly believe that the soul is the part that you keep to yourself, it's the little voice that you hear when you do makeup and look yourself in the mirror, it's the feel in between your lungs when you kiss someone you love and it's the tingle in your fingers when you get anxious. That's your soul.
Your spirit is the energy you give out to the world. Your laugh, the words you chose, the way you talk to people around you and how you maintain your relationships with them.
And you reset both of them in the same way, by building yourself and your energy levels up by doing things which are just for you. Your hobbies and interests and needs are different than mine, but as long as you find them and do them you are basically resetting your soul and spirit each and every day.

ENVIRONMENT
With this project, I wanted to do something with my space. Ever since I was a kid I just loved moving things around, changing up pictures on my corkscrew board and taking my posters down just to put other posters up. Now that I am 22 and living with my boyfriend in a pretty big apartment, I have all the freedom that I want and like. So, last weekend I moved it all around, changed it up a bit, got some new knick knacks and it all created this new energy in my space. I threw out bunch of stuff, donated some of my stuff, reorganized shelves and drawers and put away some books and clothes that I am still attached to but don't need at the moment. When I was done, I felt recharged and renewed and that is my number one advice when resetting your life. It can be a small change, like changing the sheets on your bed, or big things like painting your whole apartment in a different color. But a change will liberate you and give you opportunity to work from that new energy that you created in your atmosphere.

In conclusion you get to start over every single morning. You are a piece in progress, never finished and never concluded and you have the opportunity to change yourself over whenever you feel like it.
Be free, do what makes your spirit fire up and soul dance, and never forget that you are someone new with every moment you go through.

keep growing

  1. Okay-ish blog, I would suggest that you don't use yellow color so much, since some words are REALLY hard to read when the brightness is on! Also, spell and grammar check your work before publishing it, and if you want your blog to grow, post more often. 6/10 blog.
