What's In My Bag + How To Keep Your Bag ORGANIZED || WINTER EDITION

A woman's mind is as complex as the contents of her handbag; even when you get to the bottom of it, there is ALWAYS something at the bottom to surprise you!

Welcome friends to another blog post in my little corner of the Internet!
This is a blog post I've been dying to write about for a long time now.
WHAT'S IN MY BAG!
Yes, yes, I know "2012 wants her content back".
Don't come at me but it is my absolute guilty pleasure to look at posts of that type, and I've always wanted to write one of my own.
Why I think this is important and why I enjoy it so much? It's simple.
I love the feeling of being prepared at all times.
It calms my anxiety, it makes me feel good, and I know that no matter what happens, I have something in my bag that can aid me in that situation.

The purpose of the handbag and being prepared fails if you don't keep the purse organized, right?
So let's dive into my technique on how I keep my bag organized at all times:

1. Regular clean-outs
Put in your schedule a time of the week where you go through the contents of your bag.
Take out everything that you find unnecessary and clean out the inside of your bag.
I've been there, I've done that- I've had crumbs from my snack inside my bag, so take a vacuum cleaner and remove any and every dirt out of your bag.
Then put everything back in an order that will make it easy to take things out.

2. Order of things is important
It doesn't matter if you've opted for a backpack, a crossbody satchel like myself, a tote, or a purse- large things should go closer to your body first. Then, ordered by size, the smallest things should be the furthest away from yourself.
An example would be like this- laptop, folder, makeup bag, wallet, pencil case.
Also, opt for things that are easy to store in, i.e. rectangular cases. It's so much easier to keep it organized this way.

3. Refrain from putting junk in your bag
If you have a chocolate wrapper, please don't put it in your bag. There is most likely a trash can around you.
The same goes with receipts you know you won't need, pamphlets, tissues et cetera.
That way, your weekly clean-out will be that easier.

4. Get a bag with enough inner pockets
Or get a purse organizer. Now for me, I never buy a bag unless it has a million pockets inside, and at least one big partition in the middle.
It's much easier to keep everything in place if everything has a place

5. Get a bag that is just the right size
This one takes a bit of thinking. If you're thinking of getting a bag that you will absolutely use every day, then really think about the size you will need.
The size needs to be not too small nor too big. If it's too small, you will end up feeling frustrated. If it's too big, you'll end up stuffing things inside that go along the line of a toaster, a weave, a small Labradoodle, the cross that the holy Crusaders used to convert the pagans, and so on.
How will you know what size you need?

6. Make a list of things you need every day
Sit down and really think about your daily lifestyle. Are you more of a snacker on the go, or sit at a restaurant and eat a meal for your lunch break? Do you work in an office or do you work from home like myself so the only time you go out is when you need to run errands and socialize?
Are you prone to accidents and spills when you're outside?
All of these things affect the contents of your bag. Make sure that you acquire everything you might need, and leave room for alterations as you go on about your day.

So, what is in my bag?

1. My planner + pen
I cannot go anywhere without my daily planner, as I have everything written down in it. And also, I can't tell you how many times I decided that "I might not need it today" and then I had some dates I needed to write down or great ideas from the brainstorming sessions that I have whenever I go on a coffee date with my partner

2. Phone charger+ headphones
Another thing which I absolutely never leave the house without.
You don't want to get held somewhere with your battery dying or without a source of entertainment.
When I am waiting somewhere, I always pop in my headphones and either listen to some music or listen to a podcast.

3. Beauty pouch
I am generally an easy-going gal regarding this. My pouch always contains the same things, and those are:
a pad, lip balm, statement lipstick, hand lotion, hair ties, a few bobby pins, and wet wipes
I really don't need more than that regarding my beauty when I'm on the go.
This does change if I'm taking my bag for an overnight somewhere (usually to Luka's parents or something)

4. Medicine pouch
In here, I keep some pills and medicine that are not heavy but still come in handy.
Inside this pouch, I have 2 bandaids, my birth control (you don't want to leave the house without that), a few aspirins, cold medicine (the one you can stir in a cup of water when you start to feel the symptoms of a cold), and a panthenol cream (it's a high moisturizing cream that I use daily for my face and hands)

5. The Covid19 segment
Before this year, I really didn't have any of these in my purse.
Since this year I have put in my bag the following:
a spare face mask in a small, ziplock bag; latex gloves (just in case), a hand sanitizer (I opted for one made for children because it has less alcohol and has a cute monster drawn on it), antibac wet wipes
These things don't take a lot of space in my bag, and I keep them in a small pocket inside my bag.

6. Kindle
I absolutely love my Kindle, and whenever I know I am going out for longer than 20 minutes, I put it in my bag! It doesn't take much space, but gives me so much entertainment!

7. Wallet + keys
My wallet really doesn't have any purpose, as I rarely carry cash with me. So the only things inside are receipts from stores (which I use to calculate my budget), my ID and med card as well as my bank card. I am planning on getting a smaller wallet, as the one I have now takes up too much space.

8. Umbrella
It seems pretty self-explanatory, but since the weather in Serbia is so unpredictable, I always carry a foldable umbrella in my purse.

9. A notepad
Sometimes I am in a hurry and don't have time to open up my planner and go to the right section and take my pen and write things inside neatly. So for those situations, I have a small notepad which I can whip out at any time, it's in an easily reachable pouch, and write down anything that's small and needs to be transferred to my planner later
